Hotun
Hotun are renowned for their award winning Hotun Tundish, a device which allows water released from a single pressure release valve or temperature and pressure release valve to be passed to a downstream pipe, the open sided design allowing the user to see water passing. The water released from the valve is usually caused by a build up of overpressure or the temperature being too high.
A tundish usually consists of an inlet which is connected to the body, along with the aforementioned open-sided construction, which is normally supported by the use of two arms. The outlet is connected to the downstream waste pipes. Prior to dry tap tundishes being launched, the waste would terminate safely outside of the building.
Tundishes fulfil the requirement that in all sealed heating and hot water systems, it is mandatory that any water released from the safety device can be observed, as well as discharged safely, in a manner that does not cause potential danger to anyone in or around the building. That said, traditional designs did not solve the problem of getting to a safe point of discharge, nor did they prevent smells from coming back up from the drain.
The Hotun Dry Trap Tundish completes this task in an award-winning manner. Not only does it do the job of a standard tundish, but it also ensures that foul odours or gasses do not enter the building due to its drain connection. Given that water discharges from PRVs happen infrequently, wet traps would dry out, becoming ineffective. Once the wet trap dried out, the foul gasses and odours would be able to enter the building through the waste pipe.
The Hotun Tundish has a design which is similar to a standard tundish, but within the body there is a one way sprung valve. This valve makes all the difference, ensuring that the odours do not come back into the property.
The spring within the Hotun Tundish is light enough to open when a small quantity of water sits above it in need of release, but strong enough to stop gasses passing through.
If you need a tundish to release the pressure in a sealed system, buy Hotun.
