• Test points are one of the piece of equipment that sometimes escape notice.
• It is a very small adaptor or fitting that is fixed downstream of the regulator.
• The purpose of a test point is ensuring gas flow is at a reduced pressure and the regulator is operating to specifications and helps to detect leaks.
• Test point inlet connects directly onto the regulator while the outlet is a flared end with a flare nut to ensure a tight seal.
• Test points have replacement brass screws and nipples.
• Test points connected to a gas-testing gauge gives readings of pressure.
• A qualified gas technician carries a gas-testing gauge… He connects the gauge to the test point.
• Prior to a test, the gauge is set to zero and gas cock or firesafe control valve opened.
• The value on the gauge will indicate standing pressure of the gas flow.
• Similarly, test points fitted before an appliance can also indicate the gas flow pressure to the appliance
