Hot water systems such as combi boilers can often be subject to high demands and this can put pressure on components such as the cylinders and water pumps in particular. It is, therefore, always worth investing in high-quality water pumps and cylinders, in addition to considering using booster pumps or condensate pumps.

Water pump valves are used to connect the circulating pump to the pipework. There are various different types which come in different compression sizes. The most common water pump valves are gate valves, lever handle ball pump valves, butterfly handle ball pump valves, and screwdriver operated slotted pump ball valves. Most valves are made of brass, although some can be nickel plated. They are usually fitted to the pump using a female thread.

Flange adaptors are used to join plain end pipes to flange valves or water pumps. They allow for pipe misalignment and do not require any welding or threading. They help to prevent blow-off, and are often used in industrial facilities. Unions are a another key component of water pumps that allow the piping to be easily separated and reconnected with limited disturbance. These are available in both brass and iron and in a number of different sizes. These are sold in pairs/kits.
